Our missions
We advance translational research "from bed to bench, and back to bed,"
bridging a gap between psychology, immuno/endocrinology,
and affective/cognitive neuroscience.
Our activities have the following three avenues:

To elucidate
the neurobiological mechanisms underlying "Cognitive Bias Modification"
We have so far shown the efficacy of cognitive bias modification targeted at attention through randomized controlled trials and currently examine the neurobiological action mechanisms of other types of cognitive bias modification.

To examine how cognitive biases arise
in the brain
We see the world through a subjective filter formed through individuals' lives. The filter can sometimes distort reality, causing distress (i.e., cognitive bias). Cognitive bias increases the risk of developing and exacerbating anxiety and depression. However, the underlying neurobiological mechanisms remain poorly understood. We examine how cognitive biases arise in the brain using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

To educate and train skillful clinical psychologists
We find it imperative to get research findings back to clinical practices and to disseminate effective psychological interventions in society. Also, we educate and train skillful clinical psychologists with the perspective of "bio-psycho-social model" and "scientist-practitioner model."
Call for participants in a new research project
We are currently recruiting participants for a new study
to evaluate the efficacy of a cognitive intervention.
